Job summary

University of Chicago Medicine in Orland Park is seeking a Cardiac Sonographer I to perform transthoracic and stress echocardiography under supervision, preparing patients and obtaining high-quality images.

The role requires ARDMS or CCI certification, BLS, and 1–5 years of ultrasound experience with CW Doppler. High school diploma or equivalent is required. This is a full-time, onsite day shift position in the Echo unit.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• ARDMS or CCI certification required; pass the registry within one year of hire.
• BLS certification through AHA required; ARDMS/CCI registry.
• 1–5 years experience in ultrasound procedures and CW Doppler.
• Ability to prepare quantitative echocardiographic measurements.
• Strong interpretation skills for comprehensive exams.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for cardiac ultrasound exams and perform transthoracic echocardiography.
• Perform complete cardiac ultrasound and stress testing.
• Use ISCV system for measurements and archiving.
• Review indications and previous studies to answer physician questions; communicate with patients respectfully.
• Participate in process-improvement activities.
• Engage in research/publications to stay current in the field.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
