Job summary

Altru Health in Devils Lake, ND seeks a Cardiac Sonographer to identify cardiac anatomy and anomalies, assist cardiologists during exams, and analyze echo data. You will review studies for quality, collect patient information, and ensure proper orders and protocols are followed.

The role includes patient education and performing additional duties as needed. The position requires an Associate's degree in Cardiac Sonography or related field, and proficiency in English.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies cardiac anatomy and anomalies and communicates findings to the cardiologist.
  • Assists the cardiologist with patient exams and identifies changes in clinical circumstances.
  • Performs computer analysis and evaluates echo data.
  • Reviews echocardiograms for quality and cardiologist's preference.
  • Collects and reviews clinical information prior to exams and communicates to the physician.
  • Ensures physician order is received and exams are performed correctly.
  • Provides education to patients about procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Pay Range: $39.12 - $58.68

Schedule/Hours: 36-40 hours per week, Mon-Fri 8am-5pm, no call.

Essential Job Functions
  • Identifies cardiac anatomy according to age of patient, as well as, cardiac anomalies, heart disease and pertinent clinical information and communicates this to the cardiologist.
  • Assists the cardiologist with patient exams and identifies any changes of patient clinical circumstances which may alter the exam protocol and performance.
  • Performs computer analysis and demonstrates competency in making quantitative calculations of echo data.
  • Reviews echocardiograms for quality and completeness and cardiologist's preference.
  • Collects and reviews all required clinical information prior to performing exams and communicates information to the physician and co-workers, i.e., patient history, pertinent symptoms, etc.
  • Assures that a written physician order is received prior to an exam performance and reviews charts to ensure that proper exams are performed.
  • Provides education appropriate to patient procedure and within scope of responsibility.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.

  • Sonographer | North Dakota Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Board of Examiners | Prior to Start Date | HR Primary Sources
  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) | American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) | Within 18 Months of Start Date | HR Primary Sources
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) | American Heart Association (AHA) | Within 90 Days of Start Date | Learning Management System
Education
  • Required: Associates - Cardiac Sonographer- OR -Associates - Related Field
Work Experience
  • Preferred: A minimum of 1 year Related Experience
