Job summary

Barnes-Jewish Hospital is seeking an experienced registered nurse for the Cardiac Diagnostic Lab at Washington University Medical Center. This role provides direct patient care in a high-acuity environment, performing assessments, planning and documentation to support safe, high-quality outcomes.

The position requires 3+ years of cardiac or critical care experience, BLS/ACLS (must obtain within 90 days), and welcomes ADN/BSN/MSN candidates with the BSN pathway.

• Accept ADN/BSN/MSN candidates - ADNs must complete BSN agreement

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation within nursing standards.
• Educates patients and families on illness, home care needs and medication administration.
• Promotes patient safety, quality and regulatory compliance; participates in professional development.
• Develops, implements, and documents plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with the interprofessional team.

The Barnes-Jewish Hospital Cardiac Diagnostic Lab provides non-invasive diagnostic services to inpatient and outpatient populations in conjunction with our partners, Washington University Physicians. The department provides the following services to our patients: Transthoracic Echocardiograms (TTE), Transesophageal Echocardiograms (TEE), Stress Echocardiograms, Nuclear Stress Tests, Treadmill Exercise Stress Tests, Event and Holter Monitors and EKG Processing.

Role Purpose

Provides direct patient care activities including assessment, diagnosis, planning implementation, and evaluation within the guidelines of the standards of nursing care.

Responsibilities

Promotes patient and family centered care in a healing environment. Educates patients and their families on how to manage their illness or injury, including post treatment home care needs and medication administration.Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality and regulatory compliance. Participates in professional development.Develops, implements, and documents individual plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with other members of the interprofessional team and patient, family or caregiver in accordance with the established guidelines and standards of nursing care. Proactively plans and ensures communication of the plan of care across the continuum of care.Uses critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs according to standards of care. Assess patient preferences and barriers to involvement in care, including their values, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and population-specific needs.BJC has determined this is a safety-sensitive position.
