Barnes-Jewish Hospital at Washington University Medical Center is the largest hospital in Missouri and a Magnet-designated teaching facility known for nursing excellence. This RN role supports the Cardiac Diagnostic Lab, delivering non-invasive cardiac services and patient-centered care to inpatient and outpatient populations.

The position requires 3 10-hour shifts (7:00am-5:30pm), weekend and call duties on a rotating schedule, and eligibility for the $3,750 sign-on bonus.

Qualifications

• 3+ years cardiac or critical care experience required.
• BLS/ACLS required or must obtain within 90 days of hire.
• ADN/BSN/MSN candidates accepted with BSN agreement.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation.
• Promotes patient and family centered care and safety.
• Develops and documents plans of care with interprofessional team.
• Communicates plan of care across continuum of care.

Overview

The Barnes-Jewish Hospital Cardiac Diagnostic Lab provides non-invasive diagnostic services to inpatient and outpatient populations in conjunction with our partners, Washington University Physicians. The department provides the following services to our patients: Transthoracic Echocardiograms (TTE), Transesophageal Echocardiograms (TEE), Stress Echocardiograms, Nuclear Stress Tests, Treadmill Exercise Stress Tests, Event and Holter Monitors and EKG Processing.

Role Purpose

Provides direct patient care activities including assessment, diagnosis, planning implementation, and evaluation within the guidelines of the standards of nursing care.

Responsibilities

• Promotes patient and family centered care in a healing environment. Educates patients and their families on how to manage their illness or injury, including post treatment home care needs and medication administration.
• Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality and regulatory compliance. Participates in professional development.
• Develops, implements, and documents individual plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with other members of the interprofessional team and patient, family or caregiver in accordance with the established guidelines and standards of nursing care. Proactively plans and ensures communication of the plan of care across the continuum of care.
• Uses critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs according to standards of care. Assess patient preferences and barriers to involvement in care, including their values, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and population-specific needs.
• BJC has determined this is a safety-sensitive position. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function of this job.
