Job summary

Emory Healthcare seeks a Device Technician to analyze and reprogram implantable cardiac devices in both outpatient and inpatient settings. You will adjust settings, evaluate rhythms, and progress to troubleshoot device issues during hospital stays, including MRI and perioperative scenarios.

Candidates should have a nursing tech or cardiovascular technologist background, with exposure to arrhythmia recognition, and may hold a Biomedical Engineering degree as an alternative.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required with successful completion of nursing tech or cardiovascular technologist program.
• College degree preferred.
• Successful completion of Cardiac Device Educational Program OR 2 years patient care experience with exposure to implantable cardiac devices and arrhythmia recognition.
• Bachelor's in Biomedical Engineering may be considered in lieu of training or clinical experience.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and reprogram implantable pacemakers and defibrillators from various brands under supervision.
• Adjust device settings safely to evaluate rhythms and device function.
• Progress to troubleshooting device issues for hospitalized patients, including MRI and perioperative management.
• Identify arrhythmias, assess symptoms, review medical history and medications, and report findings to physicians.
• Communicate with patients and vendors to aid enrollment, troubleshooting and ordering equipment for remote connectivity.
