Job summary

HCA Florida Heart Institute is seeking a Cardiac Device Technician to provide expert interrogation and re-programming of pacemakers and AICDs. This role supports clinicians, travels to regional device clinics, and ensures accurate documentation in the EMR.

The successful candidate will have at least five years of device experience, remote transmission management, and a preferred BLS certification. An associate or bachelor’s degree is preferred. Monday–Friday day shift with no nights or weekends.

Qualifications

• Five years’ experience analyzing and reprogramming cardiac pacemakers and AICDs (Biotronik, Boston Scientific, Medtronic, St. Jude).
• Experience reviewing and managing remote device transmissions (Carelink, Latitude, Merlin).
• Current BLS certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform pacemaker and AICD interrogation and re-programming in person or remotely.
• Initial device analysis, preliminary reports, and urgent issue escalation.
• Interrogate, interpret, and re-program cardiac devices with minimal supervision.
• Troubleshoot device issues and pursue rapid resolution.
• Document device analysis in EMR and inform physicians as needed.
• Educate patients on device function and remote monitoring protocols.
• Ensure charges are captured for device interrogation.
• Schedule device follow-ups and re-contact no-shows for re-scheduling.
• Support EP nurses in patient teaching and travel to regional clinics.
• Maintain equipment and stocked programming rooms; participate in training.

Job Summary and Qualifications

Seeking a Cardiac Device Tech for our practice who provides clinical expertise to ensure all patients receive high quality, efficient care. We are an amazing team that works hard to support each other and are seeking a phenomenal addition like you who feels patient care is as meaningful as we do.

What you will do in this role:

• Provide thorough, proficient pacemaker and AICD interrogation and re-programming to cardiac device patients in person, remotely, and/or via phone transmission.


• Responsible for initial device analysis, preliminary report generation, and alerting physician or non-physician practitioner to urgent issues requiring further attention.


• Interrogate, interpret, and re-program cardiac devices with minimal physician supervision


• Trouble shoot critical device issues and take immediate steps toward resolution.


• Collaborate with physicians regarding device status and accurately document device analysis in EMR for review.


• Educate patients on all aspects of their device including remote monitoring and follow-up protocol.


• Ensure charges are accurately captured for device interrogation.


• Schedule patients for device appointment follow up in EMR and remote website. Immediately contact \"no show\" patients to ensure they are re-scheduled.


• Assist EP nurses and non-physician practitioners in the delivery of patient teaching. Consistently travel to regional offices for assigned device clinics.


• Participate in positive, proactive inter- and intra-departmental communication. Promote a healthy clinical environment and good working relationships.


• Serve as a resource to physicians and other practice employees regarding device patients and services.


• Keep equipment in good working conditions and notify appropriate personnel of problem areas or safety issues.


• Ensure programming rooms are adequately stocked with necessary supplies.


• Participate in professional development activities and maintain professional affiliations.

What Qualifications you will need:

Education:

• Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum of five years’ experience analyzing and reprogramming cardiac pacemaker and AICDs (Biotronik, Boston Scientific, Medtronic, and St. Jude) OR cardiac device technology certification from a recognized device training school.


• Experience reviewing and managing remote device transmissions (Carelink, Latitude, and Merlin).

CERTIFICATION/LICENSE:

• Current BLS certification preferred.
