Works closely with physicians and other staff performing pacemaker, defibrillator, and other implanted device checks, as well as monitoring remote device checks.

Responsibilities
Essential Functions
- Serve as primary resource for clinical support in troubleshooting, programming, and patient follow-up for company products.
- Participate in training and onboarding of new cardiac device specialists.
- Assist with directing daily workflow and participate in quality and safety initiatives.
- Maintain competency through continuing education related to role.
- Educate patients regarding device function and follow-up.
- Perform clinical and library research, case reviews, and clinical observations.
- Perform remote pacemaker/AICD checks every 1-4 months using approved vendor websites.
- Explain office testing and phone check procedures to patients with verbal consent.
- Perform in-office pacemaker/AICD checks every 3-6 months, assessing device parameters.
- Adjust device settings as needed to optimize performance.
- Forward test results to physicians for analysis and interpretation.
- Report abnormal findings to physicians or nurses as per guidelines.
- Maintain accurate patient and office records, upload reports into the patient chart.
- Coordinate with vendors and Clinical Engineering for equipment maintenance.
- Use cardiac device software, Microsoft Office, and internet applications efficiently.
- Exercise professional judgment and maintain a demeanor consistent with quality care.
- Provide appropriate patient care, recognizing patient conditions and needs.
- Ensure proper patient identification, obtain clinical history, and document accurately.
- Administer medical aid during emergencies.
- Follow safety protocols and Orlando Health policies.
- Utilize all computer systems effectively and maintain safety standards.
- Maintain precise documentation and communicate effectively within the healthcare team.
- Maintain regular attendance and compliance with policies.
Other Related Functions
- Assist in transporting patients.
- Follow established report processing and interpretation standards.
- Assist with clerical duties such as report printing, scanning, and scheduling.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Be flexible to work at any Orlando Health facility and after-hours as needed.
Qualifications
Education/Training
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- Must obtain one of the following within six months of hire: PrepMD certificate, Arrhythmia Technologies Institute certificate, equivalent diploma, IBHRE certifications, or CCDS/CEPS/CDRMS certification. Failure to do so will result in removal from current position.
- Three years of experience may substitute for degree and certification.
Licensure/Certification
- Current BLS/Healthcare Provider Certification required.
