Works closely with physicians and other staff performing pacemaker, defibrillator and other implanted device checks as well as monitoring remote device checks

Responsibilities

Essential Functions
- Serves as primary resource for clinical support in troubleshooting, programming, and patient follow-up for company products.
- Participates in training and onboarding of new cardiac device specialists.
- Assists with directing daily workflow and participates in quality and safety initiatives.
- Maintains competency through continuing education related to role.
- Educates patients regarding device function and follow-up.
- Performs clinical and library research, case reviews, and clinical observation.
- Performs remote pacemaker/AICD checks every 1-4 months using approved vendor websites.
- Explains testing and phone check procedures to patients with verbal consent.
- Performs in-office pacemaker/AICD checks every 3-6 months, assessing device parameters and performance.
- Adjusts device settings as needed to optimize performance.
- Prepares and forwards test results for physician analysis.
- Reports abnormal findings to physicians or nurses per guidelines.
- Enters data into computer systems, maintains records, and uploads reports into patient charts.
- Coordinates with vendors and engineering for equipment maintenance and reports issues.
- Utilizes knowledge of software, Microsoft Office, and internet applications.
- Exercises professional judgment and maintains a demeanor consistent with quality care.
- Provides patient care considering age-specific needs and ensures successful procedures.
- Ensures proper patient identification and accurate documentation of clinical history.
- Administers medical aid in emergencies.
- Follows safety standards and uses protective equipment.
- Adheres to Orlando Health's mission and standards of excellence.
- Uses computer systems effectively and accurately.
- Ensures safety of all customers.
- Maintains accurate documentation and communicates effectively with the healthcare team.
- Punctually attends work per policies and standards.
- Complies with all policies and procedures.
Other Related Functions
- Assists in transporting patients.
- Follows standards for report processing and interpretation.
- Performs clerical duties like printing reports, scanning documents, scheduling.
- Maintains cleanliness and organization of work areas.
- Demonstrates flexibility to work at any Orlando Health facility.
- Assists with other departmental duties as needed.
- Works afterhours and call shifts as required.
Qualifications
Education/Training
- Bachelor’s Degree, and
- Within six months of hire, must complete one of the following: PrepMD certificate, Arrhythmia Technologies Institute certificate, Equivalent diploma, or IBHRE/CCDS/CEPS certification.
- Experience with certifications may substitute for degree and certification.
Licensure/Certification
- Current BLS/Healthcare Provider Certification.
