Job summary

Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta is seeking an experienced registered nurse to lead the Cardiac Device program. You will coordinate daily operations, oversee device management, and ensure safe patient care in collaboration with cardiology and Heart Center leadership.

The role requires 5 years of clinical nursing experience, 4 years in Cardiac/Transplant/VAD settings, and a BSN, with a Master’s degree preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of clinical nursing experience.
• 4 years in Cardiac, Transplant, and/or VAD settings.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing required.
• Master’s degree preferred in Nursing, Healthcare, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Oversees daily Cardiac device program operations.
• Manages emergency management and bedside care under the cardiologist.
• Serves as technical expert for Cardiac Device supplies, procedures, and policies.
• Coordinates and schedules patient procedures.
• Maintains contact with device vendors, research partners, and registry organizations.
• Integrates values and language preferences into healthcare delivery in a culturally sensitive way.
• Coordinates preprocedural referrals, testing, insurance verification, communications with referring Cardiologist, transportation and lodging needs, and same-day procedures.
• Utilizes clinical decision support tools to recognize issues, prioritize care, and modify plan of care as needed.
• Utilizes documentation tools to record, measure, and retrieve healthcare data.
• Provides patient and family education appropriate for identified learning needs.
• Coordinating care across service lines for discharged patients with implanted devices, including case management and discharge planning.
• Promotes lean principles and continuous improvement within the unit.
