Job summary

Genesis HealthCare System in Ohio seeks an experienced and highly skilled office practice RN to manage implanted cardiac devices in the HLV Device Clinic. You will perform device interrogations, programming, and coordinate care with physicians to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Under MD oversight, you will educate patients and caregivers, troubleshoot device issues, and work closely with a multidisciplinary team to deliver compassionate, high-quality care in a fast-paced clinical setting.

Qualifications

• BSN and current Ohio RN license required.
• Two or more years’ experience in cardiovascular and EP.
• Current CPR certification, or obtain within 30 days of employment.
• Current ACLS certification, or within one year of hire (Cardio Diagnostics).
• Ability to read, write and explain or describe moderately complex information to other hospital staff.
• Attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate well in an oral and written manner, as well as the ability to observe, assess, guide, and evaluate others.
• Ability to read, calculate and prepare medication, and the ability to observe and analyze any resulting reactions and to apply clinical knowledge.
• Ability to collect data, interpret findings, set priorities and carry out established plan
• Demonstrates competence in age-specific patient care.

Responsibilities

• Assess the patient clinically for device/rhythm related issues.
• Assess device (pacemaker or ICD) fully (either in-person or remotely) with full interrogation and identification of sub-optimal programming, abnormal findings and/or arrhythmias.
• Evaluate effectiveness of care and care coordination progressing patients toward desired outcomes.
• Provide basic interrogation, adjustment and programming to the device.
• Troubleshoots basic, intermediate and advanced device issues.
• Performs all work on devices and with patients as per protocol or specific order.
• Develops and implements patient/caregiver teaching plan based on identified health education needs.
• Demonstrates accountability in the management of device patients.
• Collaborates with team including but not limited to physicians, RN's, LPN's and MA's to ensure patients' issues and needs are addressed.
• Demonstrates advanced and in depth knowledge and understanding of the device technology, the purpose of the implant, expected alternation in clinical condition, and potential device-related symptoms.
