Responsibilities

• Assist invasive cardiology procedures with appropriate knowledge of cardiovascular physiology and procedural techniques.
• Maintain expertise in radiographic imaging techniques relevant to invasive cardiac and peripheral procedures.
• Orient inexperienced staff on lab equipment operation and troubleshoot malfunctions; coordinate with support personnel.
• Anticipate adverse reactions during procedures and respond appropriately.
• Complete required documentation for procedures, including regulatory, billing, and image storage.

GENERAL OVERVIEW: This job assists the Invasive Cardiologist in the performance of diagnostic and interventional procedures; demonstrates leadership in collaboration with co-workers to achieve efficient and cost-effective functioning of the department.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Integrates knowledge of cardiovascular and peripheral vascular physiology, pathophysiology, and procedural techniques being performed, and assists accordingly. (45%) Maintains expertise in current radiographic imagery techniques as they relate to invasive cardiac and peripheral procedures. (15%) Orients inexperienced staff on the operation of laboratory equipment; troubleshoots malfunctions, and is knowledgeable of proper support personnel and instances when they need to be contacted. (15%) Anticipates adverse reactions / conditions when monitoring the effects of all procedural activities, and responds appropriately. (15%) Completes required documentation for procedures e.g. regulatory, billing protocols and image storage and archival. (10%)

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum 3 years’ experience in a cardiac cath lab or interventional radiology. Cardiac Interventional Radiography (CI) -OR- Cardiovascular Interventional Radiography (CV) -OR- Radiography (R) – OR-Vascular Interventional Radiography (VI) certification issued by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) OR Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist with Cardiovascular Credentialing International
