Job summary

UAB Medicine’s Heart & Vascular Center seeks a dedicated Cath Lab nurse to assist physicians in diagnosing and treating cardiac and peripheral vascular disease. You will serve as scrub assistant, monitor, and circulator, operating specialized cath lab equipment.

The role requires ARRT/EMT credentials, ACLS within a year, CPR readiness, and possibly TKC-specific registrations. On-call 5–8 days per month, including after hours, weekends, and holidays, with strong teamwork in a fast-paced

Qualifications

High School diploma or GED required.
If job is in The Kirklin Clinic (TKC), one year of experience in a cardiac catheterization setting may be preferred.
Currently registered as an RT by the ARRT OR licensed as EMT by Alabama EMS and Trauma required.
Two years' experience in a cardiac catheterization lab may substitute for licensure/certification/registration.
ACLS certification from the AHA required within one year from date of hire.
If job is in TKC, RT-ARRT OR CVT registration required.
CPR required or must be obtained within 30 days of employment.

Responsibilities

To assist the physician in diagnosing and treating cardiac and peripheral vascular disease and cardiac arrhythmias.
To function in the roles of scrub assistant, monitor and circulator.
To operate various equipment utilized in the cath lab.
