Job summary

UAB Medicine in Alabama seeks a qualified Cath Lab Technician to support diagnostic and interventional procedures in a busy cardiac cath lab. The role involves scrub, monitor, and circulator duties, with exposure to advanced imaging and hemodynamic equipment. Excellent teamwork and patient care are essential.

Qualifications

• Current CPR certification required or must be obtained within thirty (30) days of hire.
• ACLS certification from the American Heart Association required within six (6) months from date of hire.
• RCIS and/or ARRT registration required.
• Two years' experience in a cardiac cath lab may substitute for licensure/certification/registration.
• High School Diploma or equivalent; one year of experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Admit and orient patient to cardiac cath lab per pre-procedural checklist.
• Explain testing procedure to patient and significant others.
• Functions as scrub assistant; establishes and maintains sterile field and follows infection control guidelines.
• Operates EKG, x-ray and hemodynamic equipment to monitor patient status during procedures.
• Assist physician with diagnostic and mapping systems and with device placement.
• Maintain safety standards and documentation; participate in ongoing education and training.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
