Job summary

Medix seeks an experienced Cardiac Cath Lab Technologist to join a two-room Cardiac Cath Lab in Perth Amboy, NJ. This contract role requires the ability to work independently with minimal onboarding and supports both diagnostic and interventional procedures.

You will operate specialized hemodynamic equipment, participate in STEMI call coverage (~14 days/month), and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of nurses and physicians to deliver high-quality cardiac care.

Qualifications

• RT Certification required for practice in CT Lab procedures.
• ACLS certification required.
• Minimum 2 years of direct Cardiac Cath Lab experience.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians in diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures, manage wires, catheters, balloons, stents and other devices.
• Prepare procedure rooms, ensure equipment setup and calibrate systems for procedures.
• Operate and monitor hemodynamic monitoring systems during procedures.
• Perform daily quality control checks and maintain readiness for urgent cases.
• Support cases involving advanced interventions and devices.
• Accurately document procedures in Epic EHR.
• Participate in STEMI call and weekend coverage.
• Mentor and onboard future permanent staff as needed.

Position Title: Cardiac Cath Lab Technologist

Location: Perth Amboy, NJ

Employment Type: Contract (1 Assignment: 26 Weeks | 1 Assignment: 13 Weeks with potential to extend)

Shift / Schedule: Day Shift | 4x10s (7:00 AM - 5:30 PM, Mon-Fri with flexible days off; priority on Mondays & Wednesdays)

On-Call Requirement: Approx. 14 call days/month (including ~2 weekends) for STEMI and urgent coverage (split/swap available)

Pay Range

• Travel Rate: $3,600 - $3,800/week (includes $1,575 non-taxed stipend, based on experience)
• Local Rate: Up to $88/hour (based on experience)

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Cardiac Cath Lab Technologist to join a dedicated, two-room Cardiac Cath Lab in a small community hospital setting in Perth Amboy, NJ. This is an immediate need for a skilled professional who can hit the ground running and work independently with minimal onboarding.

You will work alongside a collaborative, multidisciplinary team of nurses and physicians delivering high-quality cardiac care. You will support both diagnostic and interventional procedures, operate specialized hemodynamic equipment, and assist with urgent cases and STEMI call coverage.

Key Responsibilities

• Procedure Assistance: Assist physicians in diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures, including managing wires, catheters, balloons, stents, and other advanced interventional devices.
• Room & Patient Prep: Prepare procedure rooms, ensure proper equipment setup, calibrate systems, and ready patients for clinical procedures.
• Hemodynamic Monitoring: Operate and monitor the department’s manifold and hemodynamic monitoring systems throughout procedures.
• Equipment Management: Perform daily quality control checks and maintain readiness for routine and urgent cases.
• Device & Advanced Intervention Support: Support cases involving IVUS, FFR/IFR, Shockwave, Penumbra, Impella, pacemakers, leadless devices, and loop recorders.
• Documentation: Accurately complete all procedural and clinical documentation within Epic EHR.
• Call Coverage: Participate in STEMI call and weekend urgent case coverage (~14 days/month).
• Team Collaboration & Mentorship: Work closely with the Cath Lab team and help onboard future permanent staff as needed.

Qualifications

Required:

• Certification: RT (Radiologic Technologist) Certification
• Life Support: ACLS Certification
• Experience: Minimum 2 years of direct Cardiac Cath Lab experience
• Autonomy: Demonstrated capability to work independently with minimal training in a fast-paced environment
• Systems Experience: Hands‑on experience with manifold and hemodynamic monitoring systems

Preferred:

• RCIS Certification (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist)

Technical & Clinical Environment

• Facility Setting: Hospital / Inpatient (Community Hospital, 2‑Room Cath Lab)
• Equipment: GE and Toshiba Cath Lab equipment, Manifold/Hemodynamic monitoring systems
• EHR System: Epic
• Patient Population: Adult cardiac patients ( Ages 30-60, heavily Hispanic demographic; dedicated translator services are available on-site)
• Procedure Volume: 2 to 6 procedures per day (typical case length: 60-105 minutes)
• Dress Code: Dark-colored scrubs
