Job summary

Grandview Medical Center in Birmingham, AL is seeking a Cath Lab Technician to assist physicians during cardiac catheterization and other interventional procedures. You will prepare and maintain equipment, monitor patients, and ensure the highest standards of patient care and safety.

You will work with fluoroscopy, IVUS, and hemodynamic monitoring systems, document data, follow radiation safety protocols, and participate in quality improvement to support accreditation standards.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of experience in a Cardiac Cath Lab or cardiovascular diagnostic setting.
• Proficiency in cardiovascular diagnostic and interventional procedures and equipment use.
• Strong knowledge of cardiac anatomy and physiology.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills in a healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

• Prepares the cath lab for procedures with necessary equipment and supplies.
• Assists physicians during procedures using fluoroscopy, IVUS, and monitoring systems.
• Monitors vital signs and documents data; reports abnormalities promptly.
• Positions and prepares patients, explains procedures to alleviate anxiety and ensure compliance.
• Documents procedures, patient data, and equipment usage per departmental policies.
• Adheres to radiation safety and infection control guidelines for patient and staff safety.
• Assists in administration of contrast media and medications under physician direction.
• Participates in quality improvement activities and accreditation efforts.
• Conducts routine maintenance and troubleshooting of Cath Lab equipment to minimize downtime.
• Provides post-procedural care and instructions; coordinates with healthcare team for follow-up.
• Maintains regular attendance and complies with policies.
