Job summary

The University of South Alabama is seeking a Cath Lab Technician to perform the technical aspects of diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures under the supervision of the physician and in collaboration with cath lab staff.

The role requires maintaining sterile technique, managing imaging equipment, assisting cardiologists during catheter-based procedures, ensuring proper radiation protection, and ensuring timely PACS image availability and accurate documentation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; 2 years of cardiovascular experience required OR completion of an allied health program with relevant certification within six months of employment.
• Advanced registry is highly preferred
• BCLS and ACLS within 180 days required

Responsibilities

• Performs digital image management tasks and maintains competency with imaging equipment.
• Assists cardiologists as a scrub assistant during catheter-based procedures.
• Maintains sterile technique and infection control standards.
• Ensures radiation safety and proper labeling of patient images.
• Reviews orders and notes special instructions with physicians as needed.
• Ensures timely completion of exams and availability of images on PACS.
