About this position

As a Cardiac Cath Lab Scrub Technician, you'll play a vital role in supporting interventional cardiac procedures that save lives and improve patient health. You'll work alongside leading cardiologists and healthcare professionals, utilizing your skills to ensure the highest standards of care in our dynamic catheterization lab.

Job Responsibilities
  • Prepare the catheterization laboratory and ensure all necessary equipment and supplies are available and in working order.
  • Assist with the sterilization and set‑up of sterile fields.
  • Scrub in to assist physicians during cardiac catheterization procedures by passing instruments, manipulating catheters, and helping with device implantation.
  • Maintain aseptic technique to prevent infection and ensure patient safety.
  • Monitor and maintain the inventory of cath lab supplies, restocking as necessary.
  • Operate fluoroscopy and other imaging equipment under the direction of the physician.
  • Ensure proper disposal of sharps and other hazardous materials following procedures.
  • Record and document procedural details, patient responses, and the outcome of the procedure in the patient’s medical record.
  • Collaborate with the cath lab team to implement protocols and quality control measures.
  • Provide patient care before, during, and after procedures, including positioning the patient and monitoring vital signs.
  • Participate in emergency response situations by providing critical assistance as needed.
  • Assist in the training and mentoring of new staff and students within the cath lab environment.
  • Engage in continuous education to stay current with evolving techniques, equipment, and best practices in the field of cardiac care.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  • Operate the C-Arm X‑Ray during the procedure.
Job Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to work Saturdays.
  • Completion of an accredited Cardiovascular Technologist Program or Surgical Technologist Program.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) license.
  • Certification as a Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification or willingness to obtain within a specified timeframe.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in a catheterization lab or operating room preferred.
  • Proficient in scrubbing for diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures.
  • Knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology.
  • Familiarity with cath lab equipment, instruments, and radiation safety.
  • Ability to work in a high‑stress, fast‑paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Flexibility with work hours to accommodate varying shifts and emergency call‑ins; physical stamina and manual dexterity to handle equipment and assist patients.
  • Commitment to continuing education and staying current with advancements in the field.

This position is a clinical position and will report to the office Monday‑Friday from 6:30 am – 5:00 PM.

Physical Requirements

This position requires full range of body motion. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, walk, and stand; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands repetitively to handle or operate standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms; and lift up to 25 pounds.
