Job summary

UAB Medicine’s Heart & Vascular Center is seeking an experienced RN to provide and monitor moderate sedation care in the heart and vascular procedure setting, using the nursing process to promote health and the prevention of illness.

This role requires collaboration with physicians, nurses and support staff, a systematic approach to data gathering, assessment, and intervention, and flexibility for on‑call coverage and varied shifts.

Qualifications

• One year or more of ICU nursing experience is preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required. BSN preferred.
• Currently licensed or eligible to be licensed as an RN by the Alabama State Board of Nursing.
• BLS certification required or to be obtained within 30 days of employment; ACLS/PALS may be required depending on unit.

Responsibilities

• Provide and monitor moderate sedation care in the heart and vascular procedure setting.
• Use a systematic critical-thinking approach to guide data gathering, assessment, nursing judgment, intervention and evaluation.
• Delegate, coordinate and manage all aspects of nursing care provided to the patient and their family in a timely and cost‑effective manner.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses and the health care team to deliver patient care and support.
