Lowell General Hospital in Lowell, MA is seeking a skilled Radiologic Technologist for the Cardiac Catheterization Lab. Join a team delivering diagnostic and interventional care with cross-training in EP Lab to gain experience in rhythm management, under physician supervision.

Qualifications

• Degree from an accredited school of Radiologic Technology with RT Certification.
• Current ARRT Registration.
• Current Massachusetts RT State License.
• Obtain BCLS Certification within six months of hire.
• Obtain ACLS Certification within six months of hire.
• Preferred RCIS Certification.
• 1+ year Cath Lab/IR clinical experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepares the cardiac catheterization lab for procedures, including setting up the sterile procedure table and ensuring all necessary supplies and apparel are available.
• Assists in clean up and turnover of room in preparation for following procedure.
• Assists preparing patient for cardiac catheterization procedures, including prepping access site(s) and properly draping patient in the fashion that corresponds to the procedure, while maintaining standards of sterility.
• Sets up, operates, and troubleshoots cardiac catheterization equipment, ensuring their proper functioning during procedures, including: G.E. digital angiography equipment, acquisition and archiving of angiographic images.
• Operates MedRad contrast power injectors and maintains the IVUS database.
• Maintains OpSens pressure wire device and records FFR/dPR.
• Manages Impella, Intra-aortic Balloon Pump, and Shockwave devices.
• Accurately documents procedure charges, supply charges, fluoroscopy time and radiation dose, and contrast dosage.
• Collaborates with the healthcare team to maintain a sterile environment within the cath lab.
• Ensures proper radiation safety protocols are followed.
• Notifies physician of elevated radiation doses intraprocedurally.
• Participates in quality assurance initiatives to improve efficiency and safety.
• Manages supplies and equipment within the cath lab.
• Participates in orientation and training of new staff members and collaborates with cardiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
• Responds to emergencies and provides CPR, defibrillation, and artificial respiration as needed.

Hours:7:00 AM to 5:30 PM

On-call requirements: one weeknight of call per week and one weekend of call per month. We offer an on-site call room for our technologists to use while on call.

Job Overview

This position plays a crucial role in delivering quality patient care by assisting in diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization procedures. Collaborating with other members of the care team, this role is responsible for promoting the policies, procedures, philosophy, and objectives of the CardioVascular Center. We are looking for team members who display high level abilities and advanced clinical practice while maintaining a willingness to learn and grow in the rapidly changing world of interventional cardiology.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Degree from an accredited school of Radiologic Technology with Radiologic Technologist (RT) Certification


2. Current ARRT Registration.


3. Current Massachusetts RT State License.


4. Obtain Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certification within six (6) months of hire.


5. Obtain Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification within six (6) months of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) Certification.


2. ≥1-year Cath Lab/IR Clinical Experience

6. Collaborates with the healthcare team to maintain a sterile environment within the cath lab, adhering to infection control protocols.


7. Ensures proper radiation safety protocols are followed, including use of lead aprons and shielding to minimize radiation exposure to patients, staff, and oneself.


8. Responsible for notifying physician of elevated radiation doses intraprocedurally.


9. Participates in quality assurance initiatives to improve the efficiency and safety of cardiac catheterization procedures.


10. Assists in managing supplies and equipment within the cath lab, ensuring all necessary items are readily available.


11. Participates in the orientation and training of new staff members and collaborate effectively with cardiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.


12. Prepares to respond to emergencies and provide immediate assistance during complications or adverse events, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), cardiac defibrillation, and artificial respiration.
