Job summary

Tufts Medicine in Boston seeks an experienced Interventional Cardiovascular Technologist to perform advanced cardiac procedures, assist cardiologists, and maintain Cath Lab standards. The role involves imaging, sterile technique, on-call duty, and collaboration with care teams.

A minimum two years in interventional cardiology, ARRT, BLS/ACLS, and an allied degree are required; a sign-on bonus of $10,000 is available for external hires.

Qualifications

• For Interventional Cardiovascular Tech: ARRT certification and state license, BLS/ACLS, and 2 years' experience.
• Familiarity with cardiac catheterization, angioplasty and related procedures.
• Ability to work under supervision and follow protocols.

Responsibilities

• Independently assist during interventional cardiac procedures as assigned.
• Comply with safety, infection control and environmental policies.
• Operate imaging equipment per guidelines and verify protocol.
• Perform first assist using sterile techniques.

Job Profile Summary

This role focuses on providing medical and clinical support services to patients. In addition, this role focuses on performing the following Cardiology related duties: Evaluates physical conditions related to blood flow and pressure in the coronary arteries and heart chambers by utilizing specialized imaging and other diagnostic techniques. A clinical technologist role that has specialized knowledge or skills gained through a combination of vocational education, training, and experience. This role will be most commonly applied to patient care and/or scientific/laboratory jobs. An experienced level role requiring basic knowledge of job procedures and tools obtained through work experience and requiring vocational or technical education. Works under moderate supervision, works through problems of a routine nature, but may at times require interpretation or deviation from standard procedures and communicates information that requires some explanation or interpretation.

Job Overview

Perform interventional cardiac procedures on assigned patients according to the policies, procedures, philosophy, and objectives of the department and hospital. Procedures may include, but are not limited to cardiac catheterizations, angioplasty, peripheral vascular procedures, electrophysiology, and pacemakers. Perform procedures using current interventional cardiology standards in a safe, accurate and timely manner, meeting appropriate imaging standards that allow the interventional cardiologist and/or other physician to make appropriate diagnosis. Responsible for designated areas and/or procedures as assigned. Work cooperatively within departments and other service lines to create a system of quality health care. Work independently as required.

Job Description

Minimum Qualifications

• Associated Degree in Radiology.
• Radiologic Technologist Certification (ARRT).
• Radiologic Technologist state license or license eligible.
• Basic Life Support Certification.
• ACLS Certification.
• Two (2) years of experience as an Interventional Cardiovascular Technologist.

• Associates Degree in Cardiovascular Technology or related field.
• Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (CCI).
• Basic Life Support Certification.
• ACLS Certification.
• Two (2) years of experience as an Interventional Cardiovascular Technologist.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Independently assist during interventional cardiac procedures on patients as assigned according to policy and cardiovascular standards.
• Comply with safety, infection control, and environmental control policies and procedures for the department.
• Operate complex and sophisticated equipment related to cardiology procedures according to guidelines and standards.
• Verify and perform correct imaging protocol, steps, procedures, and equipment parameters for each patient as required.
• Perform first assist using appropriate sterile techniques.
• Ensure patient and staff safety for equipment used.
• Participate in ongoing education and training.
• Monitor and record hemodynamic and physiologic values using Cath Lab Computer systems
• Perform quality control on equipment and devices as required.
• Communicate with other staff/departments to coordinate care of patients.
• Maintain supply stock and request stock to be ordered when necessary.
• Keep all work areas clean and functional according to DPH and The Joint Commission.
• Participate in on-call rotation as required.

Physical Requirements

• Frequent standing, occasional sitting, walking, and lifting 30-35 lbs.
• Manual dexterity using fine hand manipulation to operate cardiac catheterization laboratory equipment.
• Hearing and visual acuity sufficient to perform examinations, observe patients, read monitors and documents, and hear audible equipment alarms.
• Exposure to bodily fluids and communicable diseases.
