Required Skills/Experience:Must have two (2) years prior experience in a Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory or invasive procedure area in an acute care hospital.Required experience is six (6)-12 months during a CVT-accredited program or two (2) years in another cardiac vascular laboratory.1-2 years of experience are required.Experience with a manifold system is required to work in the cath lab; scrub assist and table-side responsibilities are required.Familiarity with computers, hemodynamic monitoring and sterile operative techniques is required.Proficient computer skills may include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platform.
Preferred Skills/Experience:3 years of experience preferred.
Required Credentials:Graduate of an accredited cardiovascular technologist program or radiologic technologist program or graduate of an applied science program.Failed fit tests due to facial hair and the inability to shave automatically disqualifies clinician from proceeding.
Preferred Credentials:Associates or Bachelors Degree in health science field.
Unit Details:The technologist assists with invasive cardiac and peripheral diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including temporary and permanent pacemaker placement.The technologist assists with circulatory support devices, including IABP and Impella.Responsibilities include preparing procedure-specific equipment and sterile trays, assisting with vascular access and sheath removal, using hemostatic closure devices, and applying radial access bands while maintaining hemostasis.Responsibilities include calibrating transducers and hemodynamic monitoring equipment, and obtaining, calculating, and analyzing hemodynamic data, including cardiac output, oximetry readings, computerized ventriculography data, and valve-area measurements.The technologist recognizes and interprets cardiac arrhythmias.Equipment includes power injectors, transducers, hemodynamic monitoring equipment, and associated sterile support equipment.Digital cine technologies are used for storage and retrieval of patient images and hemodynamic records; the lab uses Clinical Cardiovascular Information Systems (CVIS).Radiologic Technologists only maneuver fluoroscopy; the cardiovascular technologist maneuvers table controls as requested.Responsibilities include inventory control and maintaining PAR levels.
Every other weekend and holidays as scheduled are required.On-call is required.
