Job summary

The Tennessee Valley Healthcare System (TVHS) seeks an Anesthesiologist to serve as attending for Cardiac General Anesthesia. This role supports a large VA academic practice, with a joint appointment at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine and primary responsibility at TVHS.

Preferred candidates will have completed an Anesthesiology residency with ABA board certification in Anesthesiology and Cardiothoracic fellowship. VA/academic environment emphasizes collaborative care and education.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in spoken and written English.
• Current, full and unrestricted medical license in the United States.
• ABMS board certification in anesthesiology; fellowship in cardiothoracic anesthesia preferred.

Responsibilities

• Administer general anesthesia (inhalation and IV) for cardiac cases.
• Perform regional anesthesia (spinal, epidural, and peripheral nerve blocks).
• Place venous and arterial catheters and monitor pressures/waveforms.
• Manage ventilated patients and perioperative care for cardiac/thoracic surgery.
