The faculty physician is responsible for the care of patients in the hospital and clinics, as well as research, educational, and advocacy initiatives as determined by the Division Chief and/or the Center leadership.
Minimum Education
Medical Doctor (M.D.) from an accredited medical school. (Required)
Required Skills/Knowledge
Knowledge of current principles, methods, and procedures for medical evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment in the area of expertise.
Knowledge of legal and ethical standards for medical care.
Ability to evaluate patient problems independently and develop care plans.
Ability to incorporate ethical concepts into patient care and discuss these with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
Supervisory and educational skills for clinical professionals and students.
Adherence to quality, safety, and infection control standards.
Excellent verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in electronic medical records and smartphone technology.
Physical abilities for handling medical equipment, moving patients, airway management, and performing CPR.
Required Licenses and Certifications
Full licensure and credentialing as an attending physician at Children’s National.
Board eligibility/certification in anesthesiology and pediatric anesthesiology, with certification expected within 3 years.
