Qualifications

Job Description - Anesthesiologist (Part time, 26 hours) (2500014I)

Position Overview

The faculty physician is responsible for patient care in hospital and clinics, as well as engaging in research, education, and advocacy initiatives as directed by the Division Chief and/or Center leadership.

Qualifications

Minimum Education
Medical Doctor (M.D.) degree from an accredited medical school (Required)

Minimum Work Experience
0 years; completion of residency and fellowship training (Required)

Skills and Knowledge

  • Knowledge of current medical evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment principles in anesthesiology
  • Understanding of legal and ethical standards in medical care
  • Ability to independently evaluate patient problems and develop care plans
  • Excellent communication skills, including proficiency with electronic medical records and mobile technology
  • Physical ability to handle tasks such as moving patients and managing airway procedures

Licenses and Certifications

  • Fully licensed and credentialed attending physician at Children’s National Medical Center
  • Board eligible/certified in anesthesiology and pediatric anesthesiology, with certification expected within 3 years

  2. Oversee medical care teams and manage patient care to ensure continuity and quality
  3. Participate in on-call duties as assigned

Additional Commitments

  • Advocate for pediatric health through participation in CNMC initiatives and public policy
  • Contribute to research by conducting studies, publishing, and seeking funding
  • Participate in educational activities and supervise trainees and staff
  • Adhere to quality, safety, and compliance standards and participate in policy development and review

Clinical Competencies

  • Expertise in pediatric anesthesiology, including perioperative management, airway management, regional anesthesia, vascular access, and pain management
  • Ability to perform advanced life support and manage complex medical situations

Special Procedures Privileges

  • Management of cardiac anesthesia for patients with congenital heart conditions
  • Management of complex chronic pain syndromes and interventional procedures
