Job summary

Pelican Credit Union is seeking a Card Services Representative to handle card-related inquiries and assist members via phone in a fast-paced environment. You will manage card maintenance, respond to requests, and ensure timely resolutions.

The role emphasizes strong communication, attention to detail, and adherence to card regulations while delivering exceptional member service.

Qualifications

• Experience in card operations or related financial services roles.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; Excel in particular.
• Strong communication skills (oral, written, telephone).
• Attention to detail and strong member service orientation.
• Experience in a teller or call center role is a plus; Symitar is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and respond to internal inquiries regarding plastic cards.
• Process member requests (travel notifications, rush shipments, limit increases, holds, activation/deactivation, closures).
• Make outbound calls to cardholders for research and follow-up.
• Process debit/credit card maintenance (setup, blocking, rushing, limits).
• Complete reports and projects within guidelines and timelines.
• Learn Visa Operating Rules and Regulations E and Z as applicable.

Job description

The role of the Card Services Representative is to perform administrative assistance with the day-to-day activities, procedures, and clerical needs of the Card Service Department. This representative will serve the member’s needs by handling credit and debit inquiries over the phone. Additionally, this representative must embody Pelican’s Core Values, provide excellent service in their work, and be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.

A Day in the Life of a Card Services representative INCLUDES:

• Monitor and respond to internal inbound inquiries regarding plastic cards in a timely manner.
• Process and respond to member requests including, but not limited to, travel notifications, rush shipment requests, limit increases, merchant hold releases, card activation or deactivation, and closure requests.
• Make outbound calls to cardholders regarding research requests and outstanding issues.
• Process maintenance requests for debit and credit cards, such as setting up cards, blocking cards, removing blocks, rushing shipment requests and increasing daily limits.
• Complete reports, tasks and projects as assigned with established guidelines and timelines.
• Learn relevant card associated regulations pertaining to debit/credit cards, such as Visa Operating Rules and Regulations E and Z.

Card Services Representative Skills and qualifications include :

• 1 year of experience in card operations, a teller or call center role, or in role reviewing member’s financial accounts.
• High school education or equivalent.

• Excellent oral, written, and telephone communication skills.
• Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and member service skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, especially Excel.
• Xperience or Symitar experience is a plus, but not required.
