Job summary

General Matter in Los Angeles is seeking a skilled Composite Manufacturing Technician to advance carbon fiber fabrication. You will set up and operate automated equipment, cut and prepare materials, and verify winding patterns to meet engineering specifications.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years in composite manufacturing, interprets drawings, and maintains strict documentation while following safety protocols.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of hands-on experience in composite manufacturing.
• Experience with precision winding, fiber placement, or cutting/layup.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and process travelers.
• Familiarity with carbon fiber materials and proper handling.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate automated composite equipment per specs.
• Cut, measure, and prepare carbon fiber materials.
• Verify winding patterns, tension, and ply schedules.
• Perform in-process inspections for fiber placement and conformance.
• Maintain production records and material traceability.
• Identify and report deviations and equipment issues.
• Follow safety protocols for composite dust and resin handling.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives with lean principles.
• Collaborate with engineering and quality teams during development.
