Job summary

Azalea Therapeutics in Berkeley, CA is seeking an enthusiastic Research Associate I/II to join the Synthetic Immunology team. Reporting to a Scientist I, you will perform in vitro characterization of engineered T cell products and help select candidates for in vivo evaluation.

This onsite role offers hands-on training in cutting-edge CAR-T immunology, collaboration with experienced scientists, and the chance to contribute to next-generation cell therapies in a fast-paced biotech setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Immunology, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, or related life science.
• 1–3 years of hands-on lab experience in immunology or cell therapy projects.
• Experience with mammalian cell culture and primary T cell work.
• Flow cytometry experience with multicolor staining and data analysis.
• Experience generating CAR-T, TCR-T, or other engineered immune cells.
• Strong organization, documentation, and collaborative skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform in vitro experiments to evaluate CAR T cell products under supervision.
• Culture, engineer, and expand primary T cells using viral and non-viral methods.
• Conduct cellular assays including flow cytometry and cytokine analysis.
• Engineer and maintain mammalian cell lines for assays.
• Maintain cell cultures and banks; support in vitro and in vivo activities.
• Analyze data, keep records, and present findings to project teams.
