Do you thrive in complex client environments where success depends on judgment, influence, and cross‑functional collaboration?

Join us to help clients make better captive and risk financing decisions!

This is a hybrid role with the flexibility to work virtually and from our Burlington, Vermont office, in line with Aon’s U.S. smart working policy.

Aon is in the business of better decisions

At Aon, we shape decisions for the better to protect and enrich the lives of people around the world.

As an organization, we are united through trust as one inclusive team and we are passionate about helping our colleagues and clients succeed.

What the day will look like

This role exists to strengthen client outcomes through consultative captive leadership. As a Captive Client Services Director, you will act as the principal interface between captive clients and Aon, ensuring clients receive high‑quality service, strategic insight, and access to the right expertise across the business. You will help clients make better decisions about captive performance, risk financing strategy, and long‑term value creation.

Typical activities include:

  • Leading strategic client engagement for a portfolio of captive clients, acting as the primary relationship lead for senior executives
  • Running annual account planning discussions aligned to client priorities, service requirements, and commercial objectives
  • Coordinating strategy check‑ins with subject matter experts to provide external perspectives, market insight, and forward‑looking recommendations
  • Reviewing stewardship reports, performance data, and service metrics to find opportunities for improvement and additional value creation
  • Orchestrating internal teams across domiciles, Global Capability Centres, and wider Aon businesses to deliver integrated client outcomes
  • Finding opportunities to strengthen client relationships, improve account profitability, and expand relevant Aon services
  • Translating technical, financial, and performance information into clear client narratives and actionable recommendations
  • Coaching and supporting more junior colleagues to strengthen client leadership capability and consistency of service delivery
  • Maintaining delivery discipline across service schedules, governance commitments, and regulatory requirements
How this opportunity is different

This role is differentiated by the level of client influence, strategic ownership, and cross‑functional coordination involved. You will operate as the central connector between captive clients and Aon, bringing together expertise from across the organization to support better client decisions and stronger long‑term partnerships.

The role is shifting from transactional service delivery toward consultative client leadership. Success depends on your ability to deeply understand client priorities, proactively find opportunities, and build value through strategic conversations, insight‑led communication, and effective orchestration of Aon capabilities.

You will help shape the future‑state client leadership model within ACIM, supporting a more proactive, data‑driven, and commercially focused approach to client engagement.

Skills and experience that will lead to success
  • Demonstrated advisory client engagement, building deep understanding of client priorities, challenges, and risk financing objectives and operating as a trusted advisor
  • Strong strategic and commercial thinking, connecting client strategies, commercial opportunities, and Aon capabilities to create measurable value and support profitable growth
  • Confirmed ability to orchestrate expertise across a matrixed organization, influencing without formal authority and aligning teams around shared client objectives
  • Track record of owning client service delivery, managing service schedules and stewardship activity, and maintaining high standards of execution and governance
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to turn technical information, market insight, and performance data into compelling narratives for senior collaborators
  • Comfort operating in ambiguous or evolving situations, with sound judgment, learning agility, and the ability to draw on specialist expertise when needed
  • Experience leading, coaching, or mentoring colleagues to build capability and consistent client leadership standards across teams
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in business, finance, risk management, or a related field.
