Job summary

McAllister Towing of Baltimore is seeking a Captain to lead vessel operations for the crew boat supporting the Key Bridge rebuild project. You will serve as Master of the Vessel and Vessel Security Officer, ensuring safe, efficient operation, crew performance, and cargo safety.

The role requires leadership of the navigation watch, maintenance of seaworthiness, and readiness for emergencies. Strong communication and hands-on supervision of crew are essential.

Qualifications

• Must hold USCG Captain license (100 ton Inland).
• Must hold USCG Merchant Mariner Credential.
• Must hold TWIC and Marine Radio Operators Permit.
• First Aid/CPR certification.
• Residence near Baltimore with reliable transportation.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Pass pre-employment drug test.
• Pass pre-employment physical.

Responsibilities

• Act as Master of the Vessel and Vessel Security Officer (VSO).
• Ensure safe and efficient vessel operation, crew performance and cargo safety.
• Serve as Officer in Charge of the Navigation Watch.
• Maintain seaworthiness and readiness for emergencies.
• Oversee life-saving and fire safety equipment serviceability.
• Provide clear direction and supervise all crew; evaluate performance.
• Maintain logs, records, and adherence to safety policies.
