Job summary

Statue Cruises seeks an experienced Captain to operate Coast Guard inspected small passenger vessels under contract for the National Park Service, between Liberty Island and Ellis Island, and adjacent routes. You will ensure crew safety, passenger enjoyment, and environmental respect.

As Master in Navigational Command, you will supervise crew, conduct safety drills, maintain logs, follow USCG rules, and uphold Park Service policies while delivering interpretive experiences to visitors.

Qualifications

• Merchant Mariner Credential and Medical required.
• CPR/First Aid certification required.
• USCG Inland Masters (100 ton or more passengers) or equivalent.
• FCC Marine Radio Telephony.
• TWIC card required.
• Valid NY or NJ driver’s license with clean record.
• Two years boat handling experience preferred.
• Weekend and holiday availability may be required.

Responsibilities

• Operate Coast Guard inspected passenger vessel per policy.
• Supervise crew including First Officer and Deckhands.
• Maintain vessel operation and maintenance logs.
• Conduct safety drills and emergency procedures.
• Ensure safety, security, and passenger enjoyment on all trips.
• Adhere to USCG regulations and Park Service directives.
