Job description

The Captain position at Café Boulud collaborates with the management team and all front-of-house and back-of-house staff. The Captain is responsible for serving guests in a warm, professional, and accommodating manner to ensure complete guest satisfaction. They oversee a specific station and must be actively present on the floor to ensure smooth service.

Essential Duties

1. Responsible for a designated station
2. Maintain presence on the floor to oversee service flow
3. Serve and clear food in coordination with the Assistant Captain
4. Communicate effectively with the Assistant Captain and runners to ensure proper service sequence
5. Greet guests enthusiastically and professionally
6. Engage with guests to enhance their dining experience
7. Perform ongoing pre- and post-shift side work
8. Open and close the dining room and beverage station as required
9. Be knowledgeable about menu items and ready to answer guest questions

The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of service experience, be capable of handling a high-volume or fine dining environment, and possess general food and wine knowledge.
