Job summary

The Tennessee Board of Regents System Office is offering a Legislative Intern role for a college student interested in government, public policy, communications, or higher education. You will gain firsthand experience during the General Assembly session by supporting the Director of Legislation and the Government & Public Relations team.

Responsibilities include monitoring legislative meetings, tracking bills, scheduling meetings, and assisting with events like TBR Day on the Hill and SOAR.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in, or a recent graduate of, a college or university (including Tennessee College of Applied Technology)
• Interest in state government and higher education issues
• Flexibility to work odd and/or extended hours during the legislative session
• Reliable transportation to/from TBR System Office, Capitol Complex, and other locations

Responsibilities

• Monitor legislative committee meetings and proceedings; track legislation
• Schedule meetings and campus visits with legislators, officials, and stakeholders
• Assist with organizing major advocacy and recognition events (e.g., TBR Day on the Hill and SOAR) and other projects as needed
• Provide general support to the Government & Public Relations team during the legislative session
