Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills.
  • Proficient in Google Workspace – Google Drive, Docs, etc.
  • Previous experience with the Maryland General Assembly is highly regarded.
  • Experience in education policy and legislative work is preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Research legislative, policy, and fiscal issues related to education legislation.
  • Assist in advocating for PSSAM’s annual legislative priorities.
  • Provide internal administrative support to manage PSSAM’s legislative database.
  • Assist in reviewing legislation and monitoring related hearings.
  • Provide assistance in preparation of written and oral testimony for PSSAM.
  • Provide logistical support for PSSAM’s advocacy activities.
  • Work on special projects as directed by the Executive Director.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
