DESCRIPTION OF WORK

Capitol Police Officers provide various police services, requiring knowledge of the Pennsylvania Crimes Code, Vehicle Code, and Rules of Criminal Procedure. Responsibilities include exercising arrest powers, using physical force, conducting patrols, investigations, crowd control, and dealing with verbal abuse and threats. You will also provide building security, complete reports, maintain certifications, and perform physical duties such as running and climbing under various weather conditions.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

Qualifications

• Completion of the Capitol Police Officer Trainee program or an equivalent law enforcement training/certification allowing police officer eligibility

Special Requirements

• Active motor vehicle license
• At least 21 years old at application
• Active Act 120 certification prior to appointment and maintained during employment

Other Requirements

• Meet PA residency requirements
• Able to perform essential job functions
