Job summary

The Media Relations Coordinator facilitates media coverage of the Senate and supports the operation of the Daily Press Gallery. This position assists with press credentialing, including by reviewing and processing membership applications.

Work includes advising gallery members on Senate operations, procedures, and floor activities. The coordinator role also helps plan and execute logistics surrounding media participation in press conferences, hearings, and special events.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• At least two years of relevant experience.
• Knowledge of congressional procedures and media relations best practices.

Responsibilities

• Issue press credentials and administers workspace for the Congressional press corps.
• Advises gallery members on Senate operations, scheduling, floor strategy and parliamentary procedures.
• Reviews membership applications, processes dues, and maintains membership databases/files.
• Briefs media on key legislative initiatives and public policy; tracks and analyzes Congressional activities.
• Coordinates logistics of media events, including seating, access, security, and press passes.
• Attends events as a liaison to facilitate media coverage and assists in planning major events such as conventions and inaugurals.
