Job summary

Department of Enterprise Services (DES) is seeking a senior Powerhouse Operations supervisor to manage daily steam and chilled water production for the Capitol Campus. You will lead shift crews, schedule intermittent staff, and ensure safe, compliant operations across a high‑pressure boiler system serving 14 buildings.

You will coordinate maintenance, inspections, and dam/lake operations, maintaining 24/7 coverage and optimal facility performance.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.
Applicable Steam Engineer's license required.
Four (4) years of supervisory experience with power plant operations, including feed water systems, coal, gas, and fuel oil fired high-pressure boiler systems and all auxiliary equipment.
Maintain a valid driver's license free from any serious violations.
Equivalent education may substitute for experience.

Responsibilities

Supervise the Powerhouse staff and shift personnel for steam and chilled water production.
Schedule all shift assignments including intermittent employees to cover leave and maintain 24/7 coverage.
Operate high-pressure steam heating plant and related equipment across 14 Capitol Campus buildings.
Monitor and adjust systems using the Metasys central control system; ensure safety, codes, and permitted values are met.
Coordinate inspections with agencies and ensure repairs are completed per inspection timelines.
Monitor Capitol Lake levels and manage the Dam operations per DES procedures.
