Job summary

NC Department of Administration in Raleigh seeks an Engineering Manager II (NS) to lead the Capital Project Management Unit, overseeing architect and engineering services for state projects, and directing a team of engineers, architects, designers, and technicians.

This exempt managerial role reports to the State Construction Office, with a focus on delivering high-quality project management, policy compliance, and risk management for building systems and construction procedures across state

Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge of the principles and practices of engineering and architecture as related to critical project management in a multifunctional department.
• Ability to translate analysis into workable solutions with clear and concise documentation via reports, plans, and cost estimates.
• Thorough knowledge of State policies, codes and procedures, General Statutes, and policies of the Department of Administration.
• High level of supervisory and organizational skills essential.
• Experience in the design of building systems and construction procedures.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Assistant Director in the management of the Capital Project Management Unit and delivering on the primary functions identified for this Unit, including Architect and Engineering services for the Department of Administration assigned capital projects.
• Manage technical staff consisting of professional engineers, architects, engineering designers, and engineering technicians.
• Provide for quality control and risk management across state facilities and capital projects.
