Job summary

Xcel Energy is seeking a Project Engineer to join the Base Capital Project team in Colorado. The role supports existing generation assets across multiple technologies, guiding complex technically-focused projects and coordinating across internal and external stakeholders.

The position requires self-directed work, strong technical skills, and the ability to mentor staff while driving project success and continuous improvement. Occasional travel to facilities is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from ABET accredited curriculum; electrical engineering degree preferred.
• 2+ years of relevant engineering experience with demonstrated broad knowledge & proficiency in the specialty area.
• EIT/FE strongly preferred; PE may be required for certain roles.

Responsibilities

• Lead projects of moderate to large size, scope and complexity with minimal direction.
• Support development of technical documentation (designs, testing, calculations, reports, standards).
• Provide field engineering oversight for activities like testing, installation, inspections, commissioning; coordinate multiple projects.
