TekWissen is representing a client in biotechnology product development services seeking a Manufacturing Process Engineer / Capital Projects Engineer to support capital projects, equipment installations, commissioning, startup, and process improvement in a regulated manufacturing environment.

The role collaborates with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, EHS, Supply Chain, and Engineering teams, requiring hands-on engineering experience and strong problem-solving, communication, and documentation

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • At least 4 years hands-on engineering in regulated manufacturing.
  • Experience with capital projects, installation, startup.
  • Ability to read P&IDs and drawings.
  • Strong problem-solving and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute capital projects and equipment installs.
  • Develop scopes, schedules, and cost estimates.
  • Coordinate with contractors and cross-functional teams.
  • Support equipment evaluation, installation, commissioning, startup.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and process issues during installation, startup, and production.
  • Collect and analyze data to support engineering decisions.
  • Participate in design reviews and process trials.
  • Support validation and change-control activities.
  • Prepare engineering scopes, reports, SOPs, and turnover docs.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce downtime, and optimize costs while maintaining safety.

Summary:

The Manufacturing Process Engineer / Capital Projects Engineer will support the execution of capital projects, equipment installations, commissioning, startup, troubleshooting, and process improvement within a regulated manufacturing environment. This role requires strong hands-on engineering experience and works closely with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, EHS, Supply Chain, and Engineering teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Support planning and execution of capital projects, equipment installations, and engineering initiatives.
  • Develop project scopes, schedules, cost estimates, and track project progress.
  • Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and cross-functional technical teams.
  • Support equipment evaluation, procurement, installation, commissioning, startup, and handover.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and process issues during installation, startup, and production.
  • Collect and analyze equipment/process data to support engineering decisions and improvements.
  • Participate in design reviews, HAZOP/PHA, process trials, engineering studies, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Support equipment/process validation and change-control activities.
  • Prepare engineering scopes, reports, SOPs, work instructions, and project turnover documentation.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce downtime, and optimize costs while maintaining safety and compliance.

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Manufacturing, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.
  • 4+ years of hands-on engineering experience in pharmaceutical, chemical, biotechnology, regulated manufacturing, or similar industrial environments.
  • Hands-on experience with equipment installation, commissioning, startup, troubleshooting, process engineering, or capital project execution.
  • Experience with project scoping, scheduling, budgeting, vendor/contractor coordination, and stakeholder management.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing equipment, processes, utilities, instrumentation, controls, or automation systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, equipment specifications, P&IDs, or related technical documents.
  • Experience with process/equipment data analysis and engineering tools such as Excel and Minitab.
  • Knowledge of HAZOP/PHA, Lean/Six Sigma, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement.
  • Familiarity with MS Project, Smartsheet, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar engineering/project tools is a plus.
  • Understanding of GMP, change control, validation, and regulated manufacturing requirements.
  • Strong technical problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Validation or documentation experience alone is not sufficient; candidates should demonstrate practical, hands-on engineering experience.
  • Ability to work onsite in a manufacturing environment and comply with required PPE and safety requirements.
