Job summary

The Department of Transportation in New York City seeks an Assistant Civil Engineer to support capital construction and repairs of streets, seawalls, plazas, and retaining walls. You will review design plans, coordinate with NYC DDC, and track multiple capital projects to ensure DOT interests are reflected in final designs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and one year of full-time civil engineering experience.
• Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree in civil engineering.

Responsibilities

• Review design plans and coordinate with NYC DDC to align DOT interests in project designs.
• Track capital projects and coordinate with designers, consultants, and sponsors to resolve issues.
• Prepare and review cost estimates and monitor project progress.
• Attend technical meetings and prepare reports and correspondence.
• Update progress schedules and liaise among agencies to ensure timely project delivery.
