Job summary

Torrey Holistics is seeking an experienced CAD Drafter to translate complex plant concepts into buildable drawings in a chemical environment. You will prepare layouts, P&IDs, and process diagrams, while verifying field measurements and aligning designs with safety standards.

The role demands 8–12 years of drafting experience, strong AutoCAD skills, and meticulous blueprint reading. Occasional safety gear and high worksite awareness are expected in this chemical plant setting.

Job description

Ready to turn complex plant concepts into buildable reality?Do you speak P&I and blueprint as fluently as you do shop-floor? Can you pivot from a field measurement in a chemical unit to a beam calc for a mezzanine, then wrap the day converting markups to clean PDFs? If that sounds like you, read on.

What You’ll Do

Partner with plant engineering, maintenance, and department teams—share updates, join safety and project meetings, and weigh in during project estimation.

Author complete drawing sets: layouts, P&I’s, process flow diagrams, piping, structural, electrical, fabrication details, and installation drawings.

Produce print plots and copy prints; convert packages to PDF; verify site conditions through detailed field measurements.

Perform beam calculations and deck design; align designs with OSHA for construction (ladders, railings, decks), piping, and electrical; account for ASME pressure vessels.

Assess vendor equipment drawings and confirm dimensional and functional compatibility.

Create material lists, solicit quotes, prepare purchase requisitions, and track materials through delivery.

Maintain an orderly archive of prints and material lists; help teams locate historical documentation quickly.

Support GTP and SEA initiatives with graphic art; deliver flat patterns and part drawings to aid maintenance.

Take on related tasks as needed and operate effectively with limited supervision.

What It Takes

2-year CAD/Drafting degree or equivalent, plus 8–12 years of relevant drafting/design experience.

Proficiency in AutoCAD and strong blueprint reading capability.

Able to work at a computer for 8 hours daily.

Comfort gathering measurements in an active chemical plant.

PPE readiness when required: respirator, fall arrest harness, gloves, chemical suit, hearing protection.

Willingness to perform confined space entry and work at heights as needed.
