Job summary

Everforth Apex Systems is seeking a Capital Project Mega Manager to lead and mentor PMs on large-scale programs. You will drive cost and schedule objectives across projects typically ranging from $250 million to $1.5 billion, ensuring safety, quality, and risk controls are upheld.

The role is onsite in Oak Ridge, Louisiana, with a Monday–Friday schedule. A PM-focused leader with 10+ years of experience and strong cross-functional skills will excel in this environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field required; equivalent work experience considered.
• Minimum 10 years in Project Management or Construction Management in Electric Utility or related field.
• Strong knowledge of project and construction management fundamentals; safety-focused track record.
• Experience supervisory roles, direct reports or matrix organization.
• Proficiency with MS Office and project management applications.

Responsibilities

• Define the project organization structure and identify necessary technical skills.
• Coordinate with functional departments to meet corporate standards.
• Oversee project team activities and guide projects through Stage Gate process.
• Develop and maintain the Project Execution Plan and ensure adherence.
• Implement project controls for scope, schedule, quality, cost, and risk.
• Serve as Contract Manager or Owner’s Representative as defined in contracts.
• Promote safe behavior and monitor contractor performance.
• Communicate project issues and take prompt corrective action.
• Provide timely and accurate project status reports to management.
• Manage and control project costs and mitigate risks.
• Oversee turnover of completed project equipment to the owner.

Role Overview

This position is for a Project Management Subject Matter Expert who will provide expert advice and mentor other Project Managers. The role involves supporting and managing large-scale projects, typically at the $250 million level, and may include managing a portfolio of projects between $250 million and $1.5 billion. The focus is on achieving project cost and schedule objectives while maintaining high standards in safety, quality, and risk management.

Key Responsibilities

• Define the project organization structure and identify necessary technical skills.
• Coordinate with functional departments to meet corporate standards.
• Oversee project team activities and guide projects through the organization's Stage Gate process.
• Develop and maintain the Project Execution Plan, ensuring adherence.
• Implement project controls to manage scope, schedule, quality, cost, and risk.
• Serve as Contract Manager or Owner’s Representative as defined in project contracts.
• Promote safe behavior and monitor contractor performance in safety, schedule, cost, and quality.
• Identify and communicate project issues, taking prompt corrective action.
• Provide clear, timely, and accurate project status reports to management.

• Oversee the turnover of completed project equipment and systems to the owner.

Required Qualifications

Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is required. Equivalent work experience will also be considered.

Experience: A minimum of 10 years of experience in Project Management, Construction Management, the Electric Utility Industry, or a related field is required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Expertise in project and construction management fundamentals.
• Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology to transmission lines and substations.
• A history of safe performance and active involvement in safety initiatives.
• Supervisory experience, either with direct reports or within a matrix organization.
• Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite and project management applications.
• Demonstrated cross-functional project leadership and team performance skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• An advanced degree is preferred.
• Field experience is preferred.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is desired.
