Job summary

UMass Amherst is seeking a Capital Project Manager Level I to oversee capital projects with in-house and external resources, under the Project Executive. You will manage budgets, prepare cost estimates, and supervise resident engineers across multiple projects.

The role requires strong communication, contract administration, and coordination skills, with a hybrid work arrangement and responsibilities within Facilities & Campus Services.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor's degree in architecture or engineering.
• Five to seven years' experience managing complex design and construction projects.
• Strong knowledge of architecture, engineering, design principles, building systems, and codes.
• Ability to coordinate and manage consultants and contractors.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Experience with word processing, spreadsheets, and data management systems.
• Ability to access any portion of construction/facility sites.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage multiple capital project activities with in-house and outside consultants, including contracts.
• Supervise resident engineers overseeing construction on multiple projects.
• Lead feasibility studies and cost estimates and manage budgets.
• Review planning and contract documents for compliance with standards.
• Prepare written and graphic presentations.
• Promote continuous improvement and strong customer service relationships.
• Serve as the University's representative to state/federal agencies and others.
