Job summary

SLR Consulting, part of SLR International Corporation, is seeking a highly experienced Construction & Capital Project Assurance Manager to support lenders, financiers, and internal stakeholders in major mining, energy and infrastructure developments.

Based in Denver, CO, this principal role oversees project controls, financial integrity, and governance to safeguard investments and ensure delivery aligns with designs, budgets and schedules.

Qualifications

• Minimum 15 years industry experience with at least 10 years in construction, commissioning, or project delivery on large-scale mining, infrastructure, or energy projects.
• Strong understanding of EPC/EPCM delivery models.
• Lenders' Technical Advisor / Independent Engineer experience is advantageous.
• Experience with scheduling, cost controls, contracts, QA/QC, risk management and project assurance.

Responsibilities

• Lead and assess capital project controls processes including WBS development, cost estimating, cost control, forecasting, and project accounting/reporting.
• Review budgets, cash flow forecasts, contingency usage, and change management to align with objectives.
• Monitor construction progress, productivity, and completion against schedules via site inspections and reviews.
• Assess contractor performance, methods, schedule integrity, and critical path risks; identify delays or impacts.
• Verify payment certificates, drawdowns, variation orders, and claims affecting costs or timelines.
• Identify emerging risks, cost overruns, non-conformances, and dispute exposure; support mitigations.
• Ensure compliance with technical standards, permits, QA/QC, and lender obligations.
• Monitor HSE & social performance including incident reporting and environment commitments.
• Prepare clear, timely reports for senior leadership, lenders and sponsors on performance and risks.
• Collaborate with finance, technical services, strategic planning, supply chain, IT and regional teams for governance.
