Capital Planning Data Assistant (Co-op)

Job description

The Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) is a quasi‑independent government authority that grants funding for school building construction and renovation projects. MSBA offers a Co‑Op opportunity for students to learn about data analysis in the building and construction industry.

Students will be challenged by real‑world projects, connect with other MSBA departments, and gain experience in designer selection, interviews, preliminary design evaluations, and feasibility analyses. They will also receive internal Capital Planning Training and exposure to organizational leaders.

Responsibilities

• Provide support and assistance to Project Managers and Architects for Massachusetts public school construction projects.
• Conduct data analysis, develop data tools, and prepare reports and presentations.
• Support technical review and develop tools for information gathering and analysis of databases related to cost‑tracking, construction cost estimates, capital project statuses, and policy making.
• Attend site visits as required.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in or recently graduated from a degree program leading to a Bachelor’s or Master’s in an analytical‑based subject.
• Legally eligible to work in the U.S.
• Prior internship experience in a data or analysis‑based discipline.
• Working knowledge of Tableau, MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to succeed in a fast‑paced environment with multiple, competing priorities.
• Ability to deliver results with limited direction and guidance on tight deadlines; a self‑starter.
• Highly motivated and energetic.
• Strong work ethic and tenacity.
• Minimum 3.2 GPA.

This is a full‑time Co‑Op opportunity for up to six months. Most Co‑Ops move on to job opportunities within the industry and may return to MSBA when opportunities open.
