Job description

Brex is the AI-powered spend platform. We help companies spend with confidence with integrated corporate cards, banking, and global payments, plus intuitive software for travel and expenses. Tens of thousands of companies from startups to enterprises — including DoorDash, Flexport, and Compass — use Brex to proactively control spend, reduce costs, and increase efficiency on a global scale.

Working at Brex allows you to push your limits, challenge the status quo, and collaborate with some of the brightest minds in the industry. We’re committed to building a diverse team and inclusive culture and believe your potential should only be limited by how big you can dream. We make this a reality by empowering you with the tools, resources, and support you need to grow your career.

Finance at Brex

The Finance team leads financial planning and analysis as well as corporate development, which includes board communications, investor relations, fundraising, and M&A. We strive to be agents of change rather than a reporting function. We’re integrated and partner closely with teams across Brex to evaluate key questions, solve problems, and drive results. Through our corporate development efforts, we are also deeply involved in long-term planning and major strategic decisions for the company.

Where you’ll work

This role will be based in our New York City office. You must be willing to work in-office at least 2 days per week on Wednesday and Thursday. Employees will be able to work remotely for up to 4 weeks per year.

We are a hybrid environment that combines the energy and connections of being in the office with the benefits and flexibility of working from home. As a perk, we also have up to four weeks per year of fully remote work!

What you’ll do

The Capital Markets and Treasury team at Brex is responsible for securing and managing the capital and the financial partnerships necessary to enable the company’s growth. The team manages Brex’s liquidity needs and works closely with external lenders and investors to execute the company’s funding strategy via credit facilities, securitizations, loan sales, and other secured and unsecured debt solutions. As an Associate on the Capital Markets team, you will take an active role in supporting Brex’s financing and capital markets activities and strategy. You will also support and help shape Brex’s daily treasury and liquidity operations. You will have the opportunity to directly impact Brex’s growth by closing, amending, operationalizing and managing debt facilities and securitizations. Additionally, you will build relationships with lenders and investors. You will also partner and act as a liaison with internal teams on operations impacting capital markets, portfolio management, and strategic projects.

Responsibilities

  • Play a leading role in managing and operationalizing existing facilities and in supporting our funding strategy via credit facilities, securitizations, loan sales and other secured and unsecured debt solutions
  • Lead facility management efforts, including daily and monthly reporting as well as debt draws and repayments
  • Lead portfolio management efforts, including allocation of card accounts across financings and creation of dashboards and tools to track and optimize pledges
  • Contribute to the execution of securitization transactions, warehouses, and other lending contracts, including building and owning processes in-house to scale the capital markets platform as the company becomes a recurring issuer
  • Build relationships and act as a liaison with external transaction parties such as auditors, banking partners, lenders, investors, rating agencies and other capital markets participants
  • Prepare investor presentations and other materials for conferences, deal roadshows, rating agency meetings, and diligence meetings
  • Perform data analysis and performance reports for internal and external stakeholders
  • Contribute to Brex’s treasury strategy and liquidity position
  • Partner with and act as a liaison with internal teams such as credit, servicing, product, engineering/data, legal, compliance, and risk on operations impacting capital markets and strategic projects
  • Perform ad hoc projects and analyses as required

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Finance, Business, STEM, or a related field
  • 3+ years of capital markets experience at a Fintech or in structured finance investment banking
  • Experience executing and operationalizing capital markets financing strategies
  • Experience with financing structures such as securitization and warehouses
  • Hands-on experience with securitization issuance and warehouse facilities
  • Understanding of basic principles of credit risk and policy governance
  • Excellent work ethic, self-starter attitude, and willingness to contribute beyond the prescribed role to achieve the company objectives
  • Experience with financial modeling and analyzing large data sets such as loan tapes
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with proven success in partnering and collaborating with various internal and external counterparts
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize effectively, and bring a “self-starter” mentality
  • Strong verbal and written communication, quantitative and analytical skills
  • High level of Excel proficiency and ability to quickly learn and utilize other tools like VBA, SQL, and/or Looker
  • Comfortable interacting with internal and external senior-level executives

Nice to have:

  • Treasury management experience
  • Proficiency in SQL or VBA
  • Familiarity with Looker databases

Compensation

The expected salary range for this role is $142,832 - $178,540 USD. However, the starting base pay will depend on a number of factors including the candidate’s location, skills, experience, market demands, and internal pay parity.
