Job summary

Amtrak’s Summer 2027 Capital Construction internship in New York offers hands-on experience: you will assist in managing Capital Construction, Program Work, and I&C projects within the NY Portfolio, on-site with field staff, and coordinate with contractors to support scope, schedule, and budget.

Eligibility includes pursuing an Engineering or Construction Management degree, at least one year of study, a 2.8+ GPA; this paid internship runs May 17–Aug 6, 2027, pay $18–$35 per hour, onsite 4/5

Qualifications

• Actively pursuing an undergraduate/graduate degree in Engineering, Construction Management or other related field.
• Must have at least 1 year of undergraduate studies completed or sophomore status at minimum.
• GPA of 2.8 or higher required.

Responsibilities

• Attends project site walks with contractors and Amtrak personnel.
• Assists in constructability reviews of design plans and construction phase submittals.
• Assists with force account estimates and project estimates and schedules.
• Assists Project Managers to ensure projects are executed per scope, cost, and schedule.
• Review daily production reports and provide status updates.
• Attends progress meetings and reports on project status.
