Job summary

Baltimore County Government is seeking a Capital Construction Inspector to oversee and inspect large new construction and major renovations across county facilities. This role requires monitoring progress, preparing activity reports, and calculating material quantities to ensure contract terms are met.

The position involves traveling between project sites, coordinating with contractors, engineers, and other agencies, and enforcing safety and traffic regulations at sites.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of commercial construction principles, practices, and standards.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans, contracts, specifications, and plans.
• Ability to calculate material quantities and prepare schedules and reports.
• Ability to ensure contractor compliance with plans, standards, and specifications.
• Ability to coordinate with stakeholders and manage field inspections.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and inspect large new construction and major renovations.
• Monitor, verify, and document project progress.
• Prepare reports of construction activities and calculate materials.
• Ensure payments to contractors align with contract terms.
• Travel between project sites within the County and meet with contractors and agencies.
• Review project plans and enforce safety and traffic regulations at sites.
• Create and maintain punch lists with engineers and consultants.
