Job summary

MSPCA-Angell is seeking an experienced Adoption Center Manager for our Cape Cod location in Centerville. This on-site, full-time role offers 40 hours weekly with weekend requirements and a salary of $65,000–$75,000 depending on experience.

You will guide staff and volunteers, coordinate with behavior and medical teams, and lead operations to ensure compassionate care and successful adoptions. Relocation assistance is available for out-of-state applicants.

Qualifications

• 2 years of management or supervisory experience (non-profit preferred).
• 2 years of experience working in animal sheltering, veterinary services, or comparable social services fields.
• A compassionate, people-centered leader who believes deeply in helping animals and their families.
• Excellent communication skills and strong attention to detail.
• A commitment to maintaining the positive, supportive culture we've built.
• Spanish proficiency is a plus!

Responsibilities

• Create positive experiences for adopters, surrenderers, and visitors.
• Lead trainings, scheduling, performance development, and team culture.
• Oversee daily shelter operations including the intake, care, adoption, and euthanasia.
• Collaborate with the volunteer and foster care coordinator to integrate volunteers into the mission.
• Provide euthanasia counseling with compassionate care.

The MSPCA-Angell is looking for an experienced manager at our Cape location in Centerville (40 hours/week, weekends required).

WHAT YOU'LL DO

You'll work closely with our Director of Operations to:

• Guide and support an incredible team of staff and volunteers
• Work alongside the behavior and medical teams with a focus on quality of life and decreased length of stay for animals at the adoption center.
• Create positive, respectful experiences for adopters, surrenderers, and visitors
• Lead group discussions, trainings, scheduling, performance development, and team culture
• Lead daily adoption center shelter operations, including the intake, care, adoption, and euthanasia of animals.
• In conjunction with the volunteer and foster care coordinator, work to foster a positive and supportive culture aimed at the inclusion, development and integration of volunteers into our collective goal
• Provide euthanasia counseling while upholding the highest standard of respectful, compassionate care
• Model the kindness and professionalism that define the MSPCA

The MSPCA is the largest animal welfare organization in New England- caring for and placing over 12,000 animals annually across our four adoption centers and caring for over 14,000 animals in our community clinics. For our adoption centers, we aim to help the greatest number of animals by upholding an open adoption philosophy and moving pets through the shelter effectively while maintaining a commitment to socially conscious sheltering. For our community clinics we work to provide access to low cost veterinary care that helps keep families together with their pets.

2 years: Experience working in animal sheltering, veterinary services, or comparable social services fields

2 years: Management or supervisory experience (non-profit preferred)

Must be able to drive the Shelter vehicle and possess valid MA driver's license and a clean driving record.
