Job summary

OpenAI is seeking a Capacity Systems Software Engineer to build platforms and services for Industrial Compute planning, forecasting, optimization, and operational decision-making. You will design and develop software that connects infrastructure delivery, fleet health, capacity allocation, demand forecasting, deployment readiness, financial planning, and product consumption into a unified system of record.

You will partner with Capacity Planning, Fleet Operations, Product, Finance, and Supply

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software or platform engineering experience.
• Strong programming in Python, Go, Java, or TypeScript.
• Experience building distributed systems and backend services.
• Designing APIs, data pipelines, and integrations.
• Strong system design and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Design software systems that serve as the system of record for planning and operations.
• Develop backend services, APIs, workflows, and data platforms for forecasting and allocation.
• Build applications connecting delivery, fleet health, product demand, and finance into a single view.
• Create planning and scenario-modeling tools for tradeoff analysis across capacity and cost.
• Develop workflow automation and decision-support tooling to improve planning accuracy.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate workflows into software solutions.
• Drive architecture decisions across planning platforms and internal tools.
• Improve data quality, observability, and operational visibility at scale.
• Build extensible foundations that scale with growing infrastructure.
